Local Community & Environmental Action
About Downham Matters
Downham Matters is a community group based in Downham BR1, South London that campaigns and volunteers on local environmental issues.
Formed in 2019 by three local mothers who wanted to improve the environment and the area around where their children go to school. The group is transforming local green spaces and organises litter picks in the area.
The group operates mainly through a community group on Facebook called Downham Matters. The goal is to provide a platform for the local community of Downham

Downham Matters is a very small group, run by volunteers and with limited resources. It aims to work in partnership with other community groups and stakeholders (e.g. schools, and local businesses) to advance our vision of a better, greener, safe and healthy Downham.
Work we do
Community platform
Together we're stronger
We operate a community group on Facebook. The goal is to provide a platform for the local community of Downham to discuss local issues and activities with the aim of improving the Downham area.
The platform serves as a vehicle for mutual support, to signpost to other services and to share other relevant messages.

The common thread is community, environment and an ethos of self-empowerment.
Events and campaigns
Action oriented
We organise events like local litter picking and other initiatives such as tree giveaways and the Corner Garden initiative.

Downham Matters attend local community events to raise awareness of simple ways everyone can make the local area and the planet that little bit better...
